WHAT WE DID

Cofounded brand with two investor 

We reinvented  the traditional tea ceremony and made it appealing to millenials. Furthermore we set the standard for what the Chinese consumer thought of as a tea house in the modern world through excellent interior design, instagrammable tea and a simple to understand concept.

The launch was supported by online and in-store marketing and a continuous development of the concept.

To make tea in a tradition tea ceremony takes a long time and people have to share the same type of tea.

Before Yinxi teahouse, The young Chinese went to Starbucks to meet up because the convenience in a busy life.

Yinxi reinvented the tea ceremony and gave the younger generation a place to come back to their heritage and drink tea in a convenient way. After Yinxi teahouse openend in 2015,  85% clients are below 30 years old and the turnover is about 20 million NOK yearly.

A Traditional tea house usually set tables in a shared space which is noisy and public. The owners usually have a traditional approach to decoration. Therefore teahouses have had an “image problem” where the younger generation saw it as an old peoples place.

Our goal was to make Yinxi a ‘deco teahouse.’  where we reimagine the tea ceremony for a modern world. We for example put a pool in the yard and let people drink tea in water to give them a feeling of true ZEN. We were the first to create a modern tea house in Shanghai.

Online and in-store marketing

We also got a lot of free and paid publicity through mainstream lifestyle media post about Yinxi Teahouse with more than 600,000 clicks in 3 months.
